PUBLIC EDUCATION CLASSES - 2006

During the spring, Flotilla 14-06 has made plans to present "America's Boating Course" which will run on Tuesday evenings at Messiah Lutheran Church (at the intersection of Jefferson Blvd. & Drumgoole Road) right by the Arden Avenue Exit on Richmond Parkway.  Completion of this class and passing the final exam will entitle students to certification.  Your insurance company might offer a discount with this course completion.

If you are a personal watercraft operator/owner, you ARE required by New York State law to complete a minimum of eight hours in classroom training.  Any additional friends and/or family members using the PWC are REQUIRED to have classroom training as well.  Your certification does NOT cover anyone but yourself.  New Jersey and Connecticut also have laws to this effect.  It is becoming more evident as time passes that many states will be requiring both personal watercraft operators AND boaters to have safety education in this sport.  Don't wait -- take a class now.

The Spring/Summer classes will be conducted on the following schedule:

April 11, 18 & 25th

Tuesday Evenings

7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

May 9, 16, 23, & 30

Tuesday Evenings

7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

June 13, 20 & 27th

Tuesday Evenings

7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

The course fee of $60.00 per person covers all materials.

Our Fall/Winter course taught by the Coast Guard Auxiliary is the thirteen-week Boating Skills and Seamanship Course.  We are slated to begin teaching this class in mid to late September.  Once again, our class will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church.  This course is $80.00 per person excluding piloting tools.  We make every effort to provide you with additional material to help reinforce each lesson taught.  We feel that repetition will help you learn.  You will have ample opportunity to speak with our instructors who will be glad to answer any of your questions.

An educated boater is a SMART boater, so take advantage of the knowledge that our instructors are willing to share with the public.  We are all volunteers, but we have a great love of boating and want to make sure that everyone is safe out on the water.

If you are interested in attending any of these classes, please click here, and we will respond with registration information.
